USA-Corner reflector mod? Ideas?

Hi all

Have a Firenza red on the way with all the fixin's, but the orange front corner reflectors we have mandated in this country always irritate me. I have managed to mod them out of my RS4 and my prior Lexus, but I have yet to see any info on here on how to do it (prob because most of you don't have the problem, heh)

Short of buying the euro headlights and installing them in place, is there a way to get at the orange reflector? In prior cars, people have managed to open the headlights by heating in the oven, etc. etc. So I am curious if anyone has some info?

A hammer is involved but its a little more subtle than that, LOL.

Anyone screw with the headlights yet?? How do you even remove them?

I have experience of removing my headlamps as I have had to change mine for LHD ones. I agree with the video that you could remove them this way, BUT you try refitting!

I would suggest removing as per the video, then using the space to access the bumper to wing bolts and dropping the bumper to refit the lamps. Refitting the bumper to wing bolts is much easier than removal.

Trust this helps, but in all fairness the video method is only saving you about 10 mins work to drop the bumper and you do save yourself the chance of damage.

Cool.. Thanks for the info.

Any similar info or pics on how to drop the front bumper?? Where the bolts for that are?

Now how do you OPEN Smile the headlights and get at the orange reflector. Also, if I am changing out the sidemarker bulbs, does the entire assembly need to be removed or can one access the bulbs without popping out the headlamp?

Where is this Lionhead character Smile ??

Lionhead

youll probably need to slice the light open. Lionhead has removed the bumper to paint it.

This hyperlink will show you how to remove the front bumper. I used this and it is alot clearer in the flesh than the diagrams suggest!

Man you guys are awesome. So to do the lights, I would just go through the bumper removal section until I remove the 4 bolts (the pdf isn't exactly clear on if they are accessed from the wheel well or inside the engine cmpt) and then just slightly lower the bumper so that the lights clear, correct? No need to put the car on jack stands like it says or anything.

IMO those orange reflectors are hideous! Lucky we don't have those in Aussie land.
