Steering wheel controls fault?

Anyone had intermittent issues with the volume controls on the steering wheel? Appears to be when the headlights are on??

RE: Steering wheel controls fault?

IIRC it was a common issue, software update or new switch pack cured it

I think so yes. I had the same problem on my first Evoque but didn't have it on the road long enough to get it sorted

RE: Steering wheel controls fault?

Ref Left hand Steering wheel controls (volume control, telephone control etc.) do not function correctly (often intermittently) on 2012 / 2013 Evoques. This is a known issue and while googling it I found this thread amongst a few others.

https://www.evoqueownersclub.co.uk/forum...rking.html
and
https://www.evoqueownersclub.co.uk/forum...trols.html
and this is an early version of the bulletin (I think its up to v7 so don't know what has changed since this one was published)
https://www.evoqueownersclub.co.uk/forum...wheel.html

Tried several times to reply to that thread but my account wont let me post to it and I've given up now so thought i'd put this info here instead as some may find it useful.

On mine (like others ) the issue manifests itself when the lights are on. I have never had an issue until recently and what I have found is that if the dashboard illumination is turned up full then the fault manifests itself, if I turn the illumination down to half way or below then all the buttons start working again.

The Bulletins refer to a ground issue so I think that dimming the dash lights also dims the illumination on the controls and that must tip the balance between working and not working.

This certainly works for me every time. Just wanted to put what I found "out there" somewhere!

Cheers

Dave

RE: Steering wheel controls fault?

Thanks Dave

I've suffered on occasion, but rarely, but I always have my dash dimmed to minimum so maybe that's why!

Worth knowing there is a grounding issue, I certainly wont be buying a new steering wheel and harnesses to fix it, but might be able to do something with the grounding if necessary.
