RE: Smart Key

A friend of mine was struggling to get into his 2 year old Lexus, and eventually had the alarm going off continuously but not unlocking outside my house!, When I went out to help him I could see the led on the keyfob was really dim, so I carefully prised the unit apart, drove him to Halfords, replaced the battery and hey presto the car unlocked and the alarm stopped, problem solved. He'd taken it back to the dealers twice because the alarm had been going off like that for a month intermittently and they'd "fixed" it twice... makes you wonder Rolling Eyes

RE: Smart Key

Have used these in other remotes, they work fine. I didn't fancy the 150 mile round trip to get the dealer to change them, but if it makes you feel better I will get the dealer to change them at the second service. ( service free of course as I am a Yorkshire man)

A 2032 battery is 20mm in diameter (the first two digits) and 3.2mm thick (the second 2 digits) likewise a 2016 is 20mm in diameter and is 1.6mm thick.

RE: Smart Key

Well to to round things up, Morrisons didn't stock any, so got a twin pack of Duracell ones elsewhere.

Followed the instructions in the owners manual, and eventually prised apart the key, was ultra cautious, simply because the key body is plastic, and knowing my ham fisted efforts, just as likely to snap something.

I got it apart, replaced battery and then carefully refitted it. Took me about 5 minutes (don't laugh), but it's done and will be happy to change another one now.
