Big Evoque or small RRS? Based on the F Pace with no low range gearboxes, engines will be fore and aft not transverse and will be announced at Geneva Motorshow according to this week's Autocar. Personally I think it is a mistake by LR that it will not be available at launch with PHEV or purely electric power, only the current hybrid SDv6 as the "emissions beater". SD6v will be available as will all the other engines from the RRS/Disco5 range, as will a £90000 SVR version with a more powerful engine than the current SVR at 554hp. It will also only be available with Evoque/F Pace running gear and the SVR version could weigh as little as 1800kgs! It will be slightly larger than a Macan/ X6/ Merc GLE and faster in most states of tune and better off-road then any of them................ we'll see! If the way that the F Pace that Hammond drove on GT last week is anything to go by then the V6 S/C or the SDv6 (until it is replaced next year with a straight 6 Ingenium diesel) will be The one to go for I would imagine. The current SDv6 in a lighter car will be something that many here will be looking forward to as well, just don't ask for the out dated SDv8 motor as it offers only 2 cylinders over what the SDv6 offers with next to no performance increase, a lot of extra weight, greater fuel consumption and allegedly less crisp handling that the V6 diesels due the extra weight over the nose.

Also in the same issue is a spy photo of the next generation Evoque, to be similar to but slightly larger than the current one which I suppose will allow the F Pace floor pan and running gear to be used and also for a niche "Baby Evoque" to slot in below.

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.
