RE: Putting some numbers on things

Evoques and Freelanders are built on the same line, so every Freelander is displacing one possible Evoque.

That 70 second time slot really piles on the pressure. I saw, for example, that one person has time to fit the front seat belt and place the seat in the car but not time to bolt it in place which is done by the next station. Someone will have decided whether connecting the seat to the car's electrical system is done by the first or second station, it's as fine tuned as that.

Segmenting the build into such small operations must be a challenge and must offer limiting returns as the interval gets less and less. Pity the people doing the doors as well where a door has to fitted out every 20 seconds.

Nope - consecutive - see the following three numbers (all these cars were built on 20 Sept). You can verify that by entering them on Topix.

RE: Putting some numbers on things

If those who have cars built use Topix you can get the build date. If enough data gets posted here like i did earlier in the thread I'm sure somebody will knock up a graph. I'll have a go but not near a pc until middle of next week

RE: Putting some numbers on things

Ok I had to do it...

So the ramping in of the production does seem to have taken a knock in August and although steady now has not been increasing in rate much.

If anyone else wants to post their VIN and Build date (leave the last 2 digits as XX) i'll add them in to get a better picture.
