Off Road with 20in alloys

Hi All,

Can someone tell me if rim size (I.e 20in's) presents any limitation on the off-road capabilities of the Evoque.

Due August: TD4 Pure, Orkney/Cirrus, Tech + Clear View pack, 20in Style 6, Black Contrast + Pano roof.

See today's thread of Evoque to the rescue, shows perfect capabilities, Of course this is UK Off Road and not your deserts with rocks!

RE: Off Road with 20in alloys

Took mine off road on 20"s (photos and videos are here http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y217/jo...20Offroad/ ) - it is possible but due to the low profile of the tyres pinch flats are more likely, sharp flints more likely to puncture them (remember you have no spare wheel as well!) and you are open to lots of scuffing of the alloys. If you can get hold of a set of 17" or 18" wheels then you can fit some BF Goodricht All Terrain or General Grabber AT2's tyres that have decent sidewalls and a more appropriate tread pattern for off road use.

So yes 20" wheels and tyres do limit you a bit. Also if you can get a BFG tyre to suit you will increase ground clearance by about 25mm

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.
