My Plastidip Style 6 Wheels

So I took the plunge and purchased some matte black plastidip and glossifier to rid me of the pedestrian silver Smile I learnt a lot from the first wheel in regards to spray distance and other things so the rest look pretty bangin. I simply sprayed a whole can of it onto each wheel, approximately 7-8 coats, waiting 10 mins between coats, and then 4-5 coats of glossifier to make the wheels shine, a look that is sorta in between satin and gloss.

If you're not familiar with plastidip it is a rubberised spray that can be peeled off any surface when you choose to do so. Because of this property there is no need to mask up the tyre! Just peel off the overspray!

Looks good i've never heard of this stuff before. I would be interested to hear how durable it is on wheels for cleaning purposes etc.

how do you remove the excess/overspray of plastidip? do you trim it with a cutter knife?

You just peel it off with your fingers Smile it's crazy... It peeled off my tyres and brought with it a perfect replica of all the text off the tyre!

RE: My Plastidip Style 6 Wheels

Couldn't someone then just come along & peel bits of the wheels at random?

RE: My Plastidip Style 6 Wheels

do you have to dig at it pretty hard with a finger nail to get it peeling off or is it likely to start coming off every time you rub it with a wheel brush or microfiber mit?

It settles to be quite tough so you have to really pick at it to get it started. Check dipyourcar.com for videos

Google plastidip on google.co.uk and see If it comes up I guess? I am in Australia and we have a few distributors. It's an American product I believe
