My Evoque

Hi, guys my name is Tom and I spotted an Evoque this week with a baby RR logo on the back window, so decided to join the forum Smile

I have been wanting an Evoque since they were launched with the facelift look, but it has taken me all this time to save up for a good secondhand one, and got a 2015 model, and decided to go for the 2.2 diesel with manual box. Dynamic SD4 4x4 model, with low mileage, and good condition. Has spare wheel. Plus it has three years of the 5 year service plan left. (That was a bonus)

My preference was always the Star wars storm tropper look, ie white Laughing

Being a Dynamic model it has quite a few gadgets, but I am glad I picked dark seats are they are more practical for every day use. Also from a practical point of view needed the 5 door model, to get kids and dog in.

Regards Tom.

RE: My Evoque

Tom, welcome to the forums and I hope that you have many happy miles with the family and dog in your Evoque. Did you buy an Approved Used car from a Land Rover dealership? If so press them to send you on a Land Rover Experience half day and then upgrade that to a full day - take your whole family along and have a fun day seeing just how capable your new car is. It is well worth knowing just what all those terrain response programmes do 1st hand in Land Rover's car with one of their experts sitting there beside you. Even if you never ever intend to go off road in your own car at the very least you will learn what it can do on wet grass and on snow and what the Dynamic button does. Great colour too, my first one was a 2011 Fuji Coupe Lux Plus.

Now driving a 2015MY RRSport L494 in Corris Grey with Ebony/Lunar interior and Ebony Headliner - pimped up with 22" wheel and polished stainless steel skid plates from and rear.
Gone to a new homes - Zanzibar 5 Door Dynamic with contrast, lux, plus and intelligence packs
Fuji White SD4 Auto Coupe Lux + Ebony Plus Pack and a couple of other extras
Still on my drive - 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT that has been made into a SW.

RE: My Evoque

Hi Tim, I bought it off a local independent dealer who I have dealt with before, and I actually knew the car, which was just parked round the corner from where I live, and it was used by an old guy mainly for his shopping run, so the 6300 miles was genuine. Seemed he now needed an automatic due to health problems.

Anyway, I got a good trade-in for my car, and as I have a warranty and a service plan paid for, I was not too worried about not buying from a RR dealership, who's price would likely have been dearer.

I love the car to bits, though one question is why is the roof so noisy and tinny when it rains, you would think a car costing this amount, would have more roof insulation.

Other than that it seems well built, the leather seats are brilliant and well fitting, plus, the car is like new, as it was hardly used. But I and the family will make up for that Laughing

RE: My Evoque

The tinny roof is a regular comment from folks who don't have the panoramic roof, as you guess it is thin steel and lack of sound insulation (helps to keep the weight down = lower emissions and lower tax). Not sure that taking the car to a specialist and having sound deadening material put would help a lot though as it is the thin roof steel that is the problem. I was going to ask why you went for a manual, but you've answered that - the 9 speed automatic is excellent and a good match for the 2.2SD engine. You also have the roof rails which will be handy when you want to go away on holiday as the boot space isn't really up to taking a dog and all the gear for a family!
You can still book an LRE day via their website but they are quite expensive. Despite that, if you can afford a £300 day out, you will enjoy it and learn a lot.

RE: My Evoque

Our dog is just a small Yorkie, so would bark its head off with anger, if it was put in the boot Laughing
I did not know the roof rails were extra, thought all Evoque's had them, so another bonus Very Happy

Anyway, I had to go through my list of not wants when buying a car nowadays, as years ago it was a list of wants......

For instance i did not want adblue, which is on the latest Evoque engines, as its just a complication.
I did not want start/stop, but unfortunately all the Evoques have it, but I can switch it off every journey.
I did not want keyless system, as had that in my company car Toyota Avensis, and never really knew if it was locked or not LOL, but I do not have that in the Evoque, thank goodness.
