RE: Most popular engine

Glad I went for SD4 in the end but my hand was forced by the lack of an Si4 Prestige. I think LR missed a trick there.

Arrived: SD4 Prestige Auto Coupe with Lux pack. Ipanema Sand with Black Panoramic Roof
Ambience Interior with Macassa wood.

Now a Jag XFR Kyanite Blue - wow what power.
At home and superb.

RE: Most popular engine

Heart said Si4 is the engine for the Coupe but head (and dealer) said "No no no be sensible think about 3 years down the line and resale. nobody will want a petrol!"

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

RE: Most popular engine

If they made a 6 cylinder diesel engine or bigger I would have gone for it even if it meant paying a hefty premium. I think a lot of you guys would as well as I think many of you wanted a bigger diesel engine for that bit better performance. That aside I also find it weird that it's the same engine powering fords and peugeots, etc!

RE: Most popular engine

Bigger diesel = more CO2, bigger fuel consumption BIK Tax would be too much for company drivers and too many other Land and Range Rover models toes to stamp on with the TDv6 3.0ltr (and it's possibly too heavy for the nose of the car, requiring big suspension components and bespoke design of parts = too much cost for LR)

RE: Most popular engine

Does that mean there's nothing in the pipeline for the near future as a few people that I have spoken to claim that this is something that JLR could be working on.

RE: Most popular engine

For me, the diesels are simply not powerful enough to provide the performance I want in a car. The Si4 is better but I still hope there might be a petrol range topper in the future, let's say an RR Evoque Sport with 300+ bhp. This might be a stroked and bored version of the Si4 engine, say 2.5l.

As for depreciation, we'll suffer more depreciation than anything we spend on fuel though I accept the Si4 is likely depreciate fastest, but a lack of restraint in the options list will also hurt.

Mark

Evoque was great, now in an RRS SVR

RE: Most popular engine

SD4 is 3000 EUR more than TD4. I don't think 20 Nm of torque are worth that much..

Colima Lime TD4 Pure.
Tech Pack, Pano roof, Auto....
