For the first two years I had my car the "Limited performance" warning would come on whenever I was on a long journey on motorways after about two hours so giving it a 'blast' didn't really help. Once I stopped and restarted it would be ok, as it was an intermittent occurrence the dealers couldn't find the problem after several visits but last autumn they were able to find that it was in fact the DPF sensor.
As Koidream suggests it is best to visit your local dealer but if the warning clears on reset at least it can be used in the meantime if my experience is anything to go by.
