Keyless entry

Hi
My wife went out in her new prestige today, opened the car, put the key fob on the seat, put the shopping in the boot and closed the boot door. The car locked itself and she couldn't get in despite the key being inside the car! The only way she finally got in was to use the spare key fob!
We have tried to get it to do this again but all is currently working ok. Landrover technical team tell me it's impossible for the car to lock with the key inside - it did!!

Anybody had the same problem?

It's not impossible - that's nonsense. My wife did exactly the same. Problem was it was a loan car and we only had one key so LR assist had to "break-in" to the car!!

RE: Keyless entry

I believe it is possible if you only unlock the tailgate and then close it without opening any other doors. Agree it shouldn't be possible because the sensors should detect the fob and stop the car locking but any interference could stop the sensors working properly.

Keyless entry

Did you find out the cause of the problem?
The fob was in her bag which also had her iPhone in. Could that be part oh the problem?

RE: Keyless entry

From the Owners Manual.

Ensure that the Smart Key does not remain in the vehicle prior to closure. If the vehicle is in an area of localised Radio Frequency (RF) interference or the Smart Key is shielded by metal objects, the vehicle may close and lock with no means of opening again.

Yes that was what LR said was the cause of my wife's lock out too. LR assist also said it can be caused by silk lined handbags!

RE: Keyless entry

One reason why I didn't order Keyless entry on my new car. It is usefull on entering the car but of no use for exiting as you still have to press the door handle twice & it is easier to press the button on the remote, plus all the time the car is unlocked it is searching for the key (usually!!).
