RE: Gearbox fault!

one of the people on another forum with the "Gearbox Fault" has had it diagnosed as a faulty fuel pump which needs to be replaced.

RE: Gearbox fault!

Had similar problem today, although not gearbox, engine cut at traffic lights and wouldn't re-start (six days old and 580km). Tow truck driver switched on ignition, pressed brake pedal and held right hand shift paddle about 10 secs. Started beeping and up popped autobox selector. Can't duplicate yet as it's off to dealer on flatbed - perhaps someone can try this and confirm.

Cheers
Mike

Hmm ... panic setting in. I might have to go diesel manual after all.

5dr Evoque Dynamic Si4, OG. I love her, mostly.

When he did the ignition, brake, padel shift - what happened? did the engine start or did the auto selector just pop up so he could put it in neutral?

RE: Gearbox fault!

Wbessada, selector pops up just to get into neutral to push out of intersection and winch onto flatbed.
Wondered if anyone can try on their auto and get absolute confirmation of this sequence (without starting) so we can perhaps sticky and avoid the dogs abuse that Deck and myself endured for over an hour from our fellow motorists.

Maybe have diagnosis later today or tomorrow, will let you know.

RE: Gearbox fault!

From the manual - this says the gear lever can be operated even in the lowered position:

IF THE DRIVE SELECTOR FAILS TO
ELEVATE
If the drive selector is obstructed, remove the
obstruction and then start the engine. The
selector should elevate as normal.
If the selector still fails to elevate, even if there
is no obstruction, a fault in the system is
indicated. The selector can still be used in the
lowered position. Ensure that P is selected
before engine switch off. Have the fault
rectified at the earliest opportunity.
