750 miles returning with paint damage, rattles, squeaks and loose trim plus two trips back on a breakdown truck with a gearbox fault, which the service manager tried to pass off as user error!

Tony i really feel your pain. Sold my RRE because of the same "couldn't give a toss attitude by my local RR dealer". Back in BMW's and never had a problem since. They even sent a hamper when they found out we had just had a baby little girl. Now thats good PR.

Now Sold: 5dr Pure SD4 Man / Fuji White / Pano Roof / Tech Park / Style 6 Alloys / Privacy Glass / Xenons / Black H'lining / Power Fold Door Mirrors / Power Tailgate / Carpet Mats / Front Fogs.

Well we are now mobile again after a 36 hour wait, we now have a newish Ford Focus sitting in the drive.

JLR HQ have been in contact re: my complaint made to directly to them but not a word from the dealer who has now had the car for 24 hours - maybe it was the letter of rejection I e-mailed them early this morning!!.

RE: Gearbox Fault - DO NOT BUY THE 9 Speed Auto

Sorry to hear about your problems, I have had my 9 speed since 1st March.
It developed a fault in the gearbox in April according to the warning screen at about 2000 miles.
I took it into my local dealers in Boston, they weren't sure of the fault so gave me a new Freelander to use in the meantime, after consultation with JLR it was decided to replace the gearbox.
Unfortunately they couldn't get hold of a gearbox so made the decision to take one off the production line, this was all taking time so after about 10 days when I had mentioned that I preferred an automatic the dealer replaced the Freelander with a RRS on a 13 plate.
The car came back after 3 weeks and has since covered another 3,000 miles with no problem ( fingers crossed, touch wood ! ).
I have nothing but praise for the dealer and JLR in this instance, their service was first class and for the inconvenience my warranty has been extended.
Just thought it would be good to show the other side of the coin.

Gearbox Fault - DO NOT BUY THE 9 Speed Auto

Good to hear positive feedback rather than the constant negative. I had my 9 speed since early Sept, covered around 1,200 miles and so far, no issues at all.

Have had mine since 28th March and no issues too, car has other quality issues but thankfully so far nothing mechanical.

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

SP you are very fortunate some of us have not been so lucky, in 1/10 of your mileage mine has been towed away to the dealers twice and it is still there today.
