GTechniq - what's the benefits and is it worth it?

I've been considering having my Evoque finished with the full GTechniq treatment (whatever that is). Having had the car now for 4 months (initially the dealer gave it a full Autoglym treatment) I'm conscious of it needing to be cleaned and polished every week, glass smearing and the alloys looking a mess.
But I'm not sure whether any of these treatments are actually worth it (being a rather cynical type and not understanding this stuff). So the big questions are:

What are the real benefits of the GTechniq treatment? (Apart from it looking shiny when it's done).

Does it (for example) need cleaning less?

Does it protect the car from (what)??

What professional treatment should be given from the GTechniq portfolio of finishes?

After its been done, what do you use to clean the car afterwards?

And does anything need to be reapplied after the event (and how regularly)?

I know that there are some folks out there that swear blind by the stuff, so any advice and help (from experience) would be much appreciated. - Thanks

Crabacle.

So many questions.

Start with having a look at the GTechniq website. Loads of information on there, including detailers, product range and cost.

OK from memory/personal experience.

Benefits. High quality bodywork protection product. Very good water repellency.

What treatments. Most people opt for C1 or Exo Polish, Glass protection, Alloy wheel protection and interior leather care. An accredited detailer will tell you more about this.

Aftercare. I use GWash, their microfibre cloths and super towels. As well as C2 (may well be known as c2v2 now) diluted in a spray bottle with distilled water 1:20 as a finishing spray, its very good.

Easy to clean. Frequency of cleaning difficult to say as individual use varies.

Reapplication. If done by a GTechniq detailer, you will get a five (5) year guarantee. Adviseable to take the car back once a year.

This is most I've ever paid for a car so decided to give it the best protection I've come across.

Some owners care about this more than others, each to their own.

Also if you PM me I can let you know how to get a GTechniq discount.

C1 on paint, trim, wheels gives a hard crystal coating hard wearing and protective to minor scratches that cause swirling on your paint, C2 gives water repellancy on top of C1, Exo gives best finish and repellancy, G1 gives water repellancy on glass incl windscreen. Wash with G-Wash which has great dirt dissolving capability and designed to work with the coatings. The car is much easier to clean and rain even washes a lot of dirt off.

My Fuji needs a good wash after a long journey and the only time constraining solution for me is to use the hand wash parlour ... Will the Gtechniq be any use if I have to constantly get the car cleaned by the conveyor belt system?

Got mine : Dynamic Fuji White with Lux Pack and black contrast roof.
Optional extras : Privacy glass, Heated steering wheel and TPMS.

Hi

You have AutoGlym Lifeshine, why do you wish for additional protection?

I believe you have a lifetime warranty with this application.

I'm surprised you're having such poor results with Autoglym. It isn't the best treatment, but it's certainly better than nothing if applied properly (and only your dealer knows that!). Additionally, you've already paid for it, directly or indirectly.

I had the new Evoque and my other car done on a two-for-one basis at my home. The chap spent all day at it, doing a very thorough job, and I have been surprised how good it has actually been. One car sits out all the time and heavy rain leaves it looking cleaner than it was before, and it washes beautifully. I get no glass smearing, and the (Cirrus) upholstery is staying clean. I use the products he left me with (which you should have had a big green bag of as part of your treatment). I can't say that the alloys are any better, but they clean OK.

If your alloys are deteriorating, and you haven't damaged them, take it back and get them to sort it.

With all these types of treatments the most important thing is to prep the paintwork before application. Most dealers will just bang it on top of the paint which will normally be far from perfect. To get the most out of them you need to get the paintwork corrected first, ie machine polished by someone who knows what their doing, this will remove any imperfections in the paint and give the best shine. For the price dealers charge they should do this but from my experience they certainly do not, lifeshine for example can be bought for £20 on eBay, that's a nice markup for the dealer.I'm pretty good at looking after my cars but I wouldn't chance applying this new type of coating.Find your self a local detailer who can correct the paintwork and apply GTechnic or similar

jitenc.

Don't bother with GTechniq, if you are going to use those kinds of cleaning places, either the chemicals they use or the cleaning cloths etc will likely damage your paint.

Use them at your peril.
