Full LED Headlight upgrade

Hello!

I have the new 2016 Evoque Pure that comes with halogen headlights.

After giving it a lot of thought I decided to purchase the new full led adaptive headlights from a UK dealer that sold me those at a very expensive part (they have cost me 2000€) (They are EU parts same as my car which is from spain).

Nobody said they would work plug n play but I decided i would take the risk since a couple of shops told me they didn't see why not.

Now that i have them with me, i have installed them and I now I have good news and very bad news:

Main bulbs (low beam and high beam) are working perfectly.... but those are the only two bulbs working... signature led light is not working neither the turn indicators Sad

I am upset I might have wasted my money but I wanna do whatever it takes to make the signature led light work.

If anyone knows something that can help me I would really appreciate it.

Thank you very much

Diego

Sounds like your having the same trouble a lot of freelander 2 owners who decided to swop their headlights to the DLRs ... A few freely2 owners managed to do the conversion their selfs and others had a electrician do the conversion for em, then a few years ago someone brought out a cable connection that pluged into your original loop then to the DLR headlight... Not cheap but worked a treat..
From what your saying your best bet would be to find a good automobile electrician and see what he says about it...

good advice from dottyflo, this has been tryed over and over. there is a company in the south that do the conversion but very expensive, and they will need the car for a day.

So the led lights worked ok then. That's interesting. No faults shown? Did the headlight self levelling work ok?.

I've tried fitting 2016 xenon lamps to a 2014 and the issue is LR have added and ecu module to power the drl lights, so when I plugged them in all lights worked but no drls.

I guessing this is the same problem you are facing.

RE: Full LED Headlight upgrade

Thanks a lot for all ur opinions, I massively appreciate it.

Nickj, I also think that is the problem and we have the same trouble. It just didn't make sense to me DRL lights wouldn't work since they seem to have the same voltage as the day light that comes with the halogen headlamp.

Yes, led lights worked just ok but I do not think the self levelling worked at all since I can only do that manually on my car. I guess I can not even level them since it is a different system but I can't say yet since I didn't even try that.

I can tell you all that i went to an official LR shop and they told me they will install them again and read what the computer says. Then IF they can modify something on the ECU module they will try that. IF it requires a code they don't have there will be nothing they can do since LR does not even provide the mayority of the codes no more.

RE: Full LED Headlight upgrade

I think and I cant be 100% certain from info I've seen, but from the research I did with Nickj, the new 2016 Lights have a LIN controller bus internally and earlier models do not have a LIN bus controlling the headlights. Not impossible but will require a conversion kit from someone that can modify the lights or add a module that generates a compatible LIN command set. But if someone finds a way... please let us know!

RE: Full LED Headlight upgrade

Hi everyone,

Fresh news. I went to an official land rover shop and they can not solve the problem because they can only modify a minor amount things into our ECU.

They are going to ask LR for a permission to make the LED signature work but don't want to get my hopes up.

I really don't know what else to do Crying
