Front sensor

Does anyone know if there is a trick to keeping the front sensors on? Currently they only activate when your reverse (?!) which doesn't help when you're going through a width restriction or pulling head first into a parking space.

I know you can press the button to switch the sensors on, but would good if they were on by default.

Thanks
MM

RE: Front sensor

Have tried to find out this as well. Rear sensors activate when you revers, so why isnt the front sensors on when you go foward, at least at low speed

RE: Front sensor

On my merc they are always active, but you have to be very close for them to beep, so close you have to park very slowly and occasionally they may beep at traffic lights or with pedestrians, Volvo is the same, but the Evoque they are not on automatically, only after pressing P or selecting reverse but their range is slightly larger and they beep earlier.

So if coming in to park forwards press that P button!

RE: Front sensor

Interestingly this has also been a problem on some 2015 and 2016MY RRS2 models too and LR has a software update / TSB to fix it for those cars. Range should be 1.5m for the front ones.

Since June 2018 I’m XRRSTim as a 2018MY Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV is now charging on my drive

RE: Front sensor

Owners book says if you press the button for 3 of 5 seconds (I can't remember which) and they should then turn on automatically.
Tried this on my MY16 to no avail.

dont recon they can bee set for permanent on. the idea is so they are not beeping at pedestrians when stood in traffic.

RE: Front sensor

They are switched as they would be a right pain when off road, long grass etc constantly triggering them, that's what I suspect will be the reason?

RE: Front sensor

You can turn it on as these are just sensors you can bypass its electronics, an auto electrician can do the trick.
