Extended Warranty... :|

So, I'm coming around to the end of my standard warranty period (wow that has flow by!).
I haven't really used it, although expect a new set of wheel caps to replace my corroded ones at the next service.
They sent me a letter saying I'd be eligible for the extended warranty and they've just sent me through the "quote".

To say I'm shocked is a bit of an understatement really!!
If I wanted to continue with the Warranty/Assist as we have it now - they want, £1020 for the year Shocked Shocked

If I was prepare to drop this down to the minimum which excludes:
Audio & In car entertainment
Driveline couplings
European Cover
Final Drive
Manifolds
Propshafts
Sat Nav
Sunroof <--wtf
Transfer box
Transmission
Wheel Bearings

Now despite excluding half of the car, this still comes to £690 ShockedShocked

I'm actually pretty shocked at those quotes, I had in my mind, that a full extension for only 1 year would come in at about 2-300, clearly I'm a bit out of touch!
Needless to say I won't be taking this up... once again I feel like a valued customer Rolling Eyes

Ordered: Fuji Dynamic Lux Coupe / style 7 wheels / Privacy glass / adaptive xenons / something else which I've forgotton.
Should be end of April (was March, then April, then end of May/June).
Collected, Friday 13th Shocked April 2012

Yep sounds like it's gone up, as Mine was about £900 IIRC, only way to tell them they are taking the P.ss is not to take it up, as I didn't. If you want warranty then you can always take out a third party one.

Think of the repairs you can do for £1000 a year, especially if you don't need it for a few years!

RE: Extended Warranty... :|

I had the extended warranty on my Defender for 6 years after the Approved used warranty ran out.................. I never claimed on it once as the Defender just never broke anything that was covered by it. I cancelled the policy and instead paid the equivalent money into a savings account and even after 7 further years all the out of the ordinary cost I have incurred (including having to replace the transfer case after running it for 100 miles with no oil in it!) and regular servicing costs have been completely covered by what I put in the account annually. The balance is now so big that I have stopped adding to it and will shortly be having a new tailgate with all the fittings and spraying to matvch the rest of the car, replacing the headlights with LED headlights and having their wiring completely replaced and I will still have enough in the account to pay for the next 3-4 years annual servicing and MOT's! Migfht be worth seeing what some of the specialist after market warranty companies can offer too.

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

I'm not too worried (famous last words!!!), as the car only has 18,000 miles on it after 3 years, it's not pushed hard, and is in minty mint condition, but for peace of mind, I though a couple of hundred would be ok - you're absolutely right though, £1000 would cover quite a lot of things, and to be blunt, if anything catastrophic occurred after this low mileage and *just* out of warranty, I'd be expecting goodwill, or a meeting with my solicitor! That's interesting as I've just received an offer, for our April 2012 car which we sold last year, some interesting record keeping there.

Anyhow our quote was £850 for Extended Warranty & Assistance (12 months), boy oh boy how these things vary.

RE: Extended Warranty... :|

Hi chaps. My warranty will also be expiring and like most of you I've not had to make any claims. I've been offered an extended warranty for about £720 for the basic and about £960 for the more comprehensive. When I told the dealer that I'd forego it and take my chances, and was disappointed given I'd been loyal to them and LR by having it serviced and maintained by them, they said they'd try to lower the cost by getting LR to make a contribution. One of the upsides of their poor record keeping is that my warranty expires in May even though the car was registered on 30/03. Hey ho.

Those numbers have shot up. It was £575 for 'select extended warranty' last October when mine came up, £700 for 'extended warranty' and £150 on top of each of these for Assistance (AA Home Start, Roadside Repair & Relay).
Have they applied Russian inflation rates??

When I use this system it quotes me £700 for an extended warranty? And you can get it cheaper if you go for the 'select' option.

RE: Extended Warranty... :|

Still a rip off considering when the likes of me bought my Evoque I had to pay full list price without anything thrown in and then later buyers got the free servicing deal!

The answer I got was "Sorry there are no products that match your vehicle details"
