Also, could anyone let me know if the car can charge the ipod if connected through the ipod socket? Particularly with the new Apple Lightning cable. Thanks in advance.

Most importantly can it charge the battery as Im thinking of buying an ipod and leave it in the car if it can

Yeap, battery is charged. Only chance I get nowadays, on the way in and out of work.

Yes, it's 10 CDs, but it appears to not allow upload of anything but CD format. It will play an MP3 disc, for example, but on my display "upload" is then greyed out. Also, and this my be because there's a difference in the 2013 model, I do not find the upload time to be very long at all.
