BAS remap interface SD4 190bhp to 150bhp eco tune ?

Since im sat writing hundreds of files for the new Evoque and Freelander 2 BAS remap interface I had a thought, Would it interest the owners of the SD4 190bhp 4WD cars to also have with the remap tuning an option to switch to a factory level 150bhp for shear economy ? used for daily comute to work ?

Im more thinking of this because as we know the 190bhp car is nothing like good on fuel and this may be a nice option to have with a remap, this then gives you the best of both worlds, a full power tune and a super eco tune if needed ??

PS @ the 150bhp car owners, you are not left out as ill be doing you a OEM190bhp tune as well as the full power tune Thumbs Up

Sounds a very interesting idea Pete, an economy map and a power map would definitely give the product more Possibilities to appeal.

Do the maps you provide also give smoother running, better drive-ability etc?

Hi
They are smooth maps for sure, I cant say how in figures how much more than standard as really my car was/is smooth as standard. The power map is not like on/off power delivery so is smooth in its own right.

The gear changes on my car do seem better with the map on for sure but its debatable if thats only my perception or not as im creating it.

I doubt switching to 150bhp will effect a real saving of fuel. We tested some Evoques with 150 and 190bhp on long roads at the same time and in fact consumption of fuel was equal or even 190bhp consumed less on 0.2-0.3 l/100 km than 150bhp.
I think it depends more on driving style.

Thank you for sharing your results, these simlar results tot he 2.7L TDV6 and 3.6L tdv8 where the 8 potter was better on fuel overall when doing the same run.

I have put the 150bhp on my car now as i do many short and round town trips, ill do a few tests to see ifi can get the same results as you did. Though as you say driving style does change things up a little on mpg.

Are the fuel figures for sd4 and the td4 not exactly the same?

I think they are but i might be wrong.

Yes i agree, im sure i read somewhere they are at least very simlar if not the same as you say.

That said from from experience with my own 190bhp auto being bad in comparison and no where near the factory given figures and with my phone going mad daily for economy maps this i feel has to be worth a test even if its only on my car.

Hopefully in a few more days ill be able to answer if the changes are worth the effort in respect of a power and torque downgrade.

After a few days as already said the gain on a 190 with a power loss to 150bhp does not give anything on mpg at all Sad it was worth the test though.

That said, what was more apparant and actually amased me is how slow the 150bhp is compared to the 190, its like its running out of fuel when you get up in the revs, its just gutless and as flat as a witches tit in comparison.

Overall it was a nice test to prove if only to my self that the 190 is a far better drive and worth the extra money in my own personal opinion.

Interesting Pete (glad I went 190!) it was worth a try, was that just the OEM 150 map on an SD4, or your own 150hp map.

I guess the real question is what's your 218hp Map over OEM 190hp like to drive!

RE: BAS remap interface SD4 190bhp to 150bhp eco tune ?

It was a OEM 150bhp map I forced onto my own 190bhp car so the outcome was official so to speak. I know one thing, it will be OFF tomorrow Smile

The 190 when tuned is nice, still very smothly delivered, not to much, not twitch type power delivery, Basiclly just eniough of a gain to make the car better overall. It wont turn it into a rocket ship but the gain is worth it, Infact the gain is way more noticible on a manual where the "connection" of the engine and gearbox is better whereas the auto because its viscous it takes a little feeling away or soaks up some of the power due to the way the torque converter works.

Thats another thing im actually now kicking my self for, i should of really got the manual for my driving style as i now after all the testing on all of the models in the range actually prefer the manual overall Sad
