Any way to securely keep the car on with the engine started?

I.E with the car locked engine on.

Only if yor sat in it , however as my friend found out

Once the engine has been started it can be driven off even if your key is in the house.

As happened to his car.

Ah but once the thieves stopped they wouldn't be able to restart it!

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.
