16 New Land Rovers by 2020

Article in Autocar outlining the future of LR, their new marketing strategy

Luxury-

FFRR

Mini Evoque

Lesuire-

Fl super 7 seater
Fl super 5 seater
Baby Fl

Utility-

Pick up Defender
Long wheelbase Defender
Standard Defender
Current Defender (overseas)
DC100

Personally I will be like a kid in a sweet shop deciding which to go for. They reckon the global SUV market will reach 22 million by 2020.

I do like the 'lifestyle' options, I think it's a bit much but if it boosts the sales and a market for it then it has to be all good.

Please don't ruin the Evoque, milking it to death by bringing out a new variation of it every month like BMW are doing with their Mini cash-cow.

I bet half of those designs don't ever see the light of day. Longer and shorter Evoques will ruin the lines, how can you make it shorter and keep it practical, and a longer one will look like a jacked up 5 door. Anybody for an Evoque Commercial?

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

That's my opinion also, it's all a bit much.

RE: 16 New Land Rovers by 2020

As much as I agree that they shouldn't ruin the Evoque, increasing the range for Land Rover has worked very well from a marketing perspective over the years. The FFRR has progressively become very much more expensive than it was 15 years ago (I think justifiably) and they have made this possible by adding in more models to the midrange. Bringing in the Freelander allowed them to push the price of the Disco and the Range Rover up. Bringing in the RR Sport further helped this, and then the introduction of the Evoque has allowed them to do this further.

I guess the proposed plans would allow them to continue along the same path. I cant see them releasing all those models anyway, but I would expect it is more than likely we might see a few of them.

The first thing I notice is that on the front cover of Autocar it says "Secret 7 Year Plan" If it was that secret they would not know about it so I would say pinch & salt!
